They say that big things sometimes come in small packages. Standing only 5 feet, 2 inches, Bridgette Monroe personifies
that premise. This Texarkana, Arkansas native has discovered her own creative magic through the experiences that life has
thrown her way.
In February of 2004, Bridgette was diagnosed with breast cancer. As she watched her closest friends struggle to accept
the news, she became their strength and inspiration. Her fight for community awareness became infused with determination to
overcome the disease, and bring about enlightenment and a change in attitude about cancer in the African-American community.
After surgery, chemotherapy, and a renewed self-image, Monroe emerged from the ordeal cancer free, and ready to take on her
next challenge.
That challenge came in the form of restarting her move to bring the issues that millions of pastors' wives deal with
daily to the forefront. Hence, her passion for her first stageplay production, "The Pastor's Wife".
Monroe has been in the Christian entertainment field for almost a decade. She is a playwright, songwriter, producer,
and promoter who has worked with many talented people over the years. Her greatest joy concerning her career, however,
has been the privelege of presenting many pastors, evangelists, motivational speakers, and other Christians to the masses.
In doing so, Monroe has helped to bring awareness to many of today's controversial spiritual and social issues. Some
of the events that Ms. Monroe has sponsored are:
- "From the Pit to the Palace" Women's Retreat 1 & 2, (1999) featuring Evangelist Barbara Hawkins, where the focus
was on helping to encourage women to trust God to elevate them beyond their circumstances.
- Back to School Citywide Prayer Service, (1999) where the topic was the absence of prayer in schools
- Heartbreak Hotel Retreat 1 & 2, (2001) featuring Pastor Paul Keener, with the empasis being repairing broken male/female
relationships.
- Resurrection Crusade, (2002) featuring Bishop C. L. Howard of Kansas City, Missouri
Ms. Monroe has also worked with well known family psychologists Joan-Marie Cook and Sterling Lacy to bring about restoration
of families of youths who have been affected by family violence.
Bridgette Monroe has been a beacon in her community for over ten years, and she plans to continue to promote community
awareness through continued outreach services. It is her hope that the lives of everyone who experiences her work will be
greatly and positively impacted by it.
